North Travel Terms & Conditions

Acceptance of these terms and conditions is a condition of booking and is the acknowledgement that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by them.

The "Service" is the North Travel website (the “Site”), the software associated with the site and the facility to enter into transactions with certain parties whose content appears on the site.

When you access the North Travel site (a "visit"), you are using software that is owned by or licensed to Real Experience (NZ) Ltd (“we” “our” or “us”). For each visit, Real Experience (NZ) Ltd, grants you a personal non-exclusive license to use the software associated with the North Travel site for the duration of the visit and for the sole purpose of making airline, car hire or accommodation enquiries and bookings ("Licence"). 

This Licence does not permit you to make a Visit for the purpose of "carrying on a business as a travel agent" within the meaning of any applicable legislation regulating travel agents unless you are a licensed travel agent under that legislation or TAANZ. Any other use, commercial or otherwise, of the website, software or information on the site without the express written permission of Real Experience (NZ) Ltd is strictly prohibited, including any reproduction, data mining, automated querying or similar data extraction processing.

What We May Do

Because we are reliant on the availability of seats, airfare rules and their associated pricing levels from either the airline directly or their distributing partners, we reserve the right to amend your booking in consultation with you in the event of an error by these third parties. In such circumstances additional fare charges may have to be paid by you and/or your itinerary may need to be changed to comply with either the fare rule and/or the availability of seats.

You acknowledge that some of the material accessible through the Service is provided by third parties. This material does not form part of the Service, and we are not responsible for this material. Where the Service provides the facility to enter into transactions with third parties, you acknowledge that the goods or services offered by these third parties do not form part of the Service and that we are not responsible for those third parties or the goods or services they offer. Airlines and other third-party travel providers impose different terms and conditions on the sale of specific travel products featured on this site. You should carefully read all the terms and conditions specific to the product you are booking before finalising your travel transaction.

You grant us ongoing consent to use your information to promote and market our products and services and make other offers to you (including sending you electronic messages via email and SMS). You acknowledge that this consent continues indefinitely until you expressly withdraw it. If you do not wish us to contact you or you would like us to stop promoting and marketing products, services and other offers to you, please contact us at any time by submitting a request through our feedback form.

We may disclose some of your information at an aggregate level for marketing purposes provided that you cannot be personally identified from this aggregated data. We may use information about you for marketing, internal planning or product development purposes to improve the quality of our services. We may use or disclose the personal information which you have provided to us in accordance with our Privacy Policy, as indicated on the North Travel Website. Our actions in handling your personal information are detailed in Real Experience (NZ) Ltd's Privacy Policy.

You consent to us supplying your billing, payment and identification information to third parties with whom you enter into transactions using the Service. We may also provide such personal information to third parties as is required to complete your booking. You accept that the recipients of this disclosure may not have in place privacy policies equivalent to Real Experience (NZ) Ltd.

You authorise our agents to disclose your credit card details to and obtain information from, any financial institution or credit card issuer to verify the credit card and identification details that you provide. You also authorise your credit card issuer or financial institution to verify that the credit card and identification details you have provided to us are accurate. You authorise our agents to take steps to confirm that there is sufficient credit on your credit card account to meet likely charges. For any payment by credit card, airline tickets and other documentation will not be issued until authorisation has been obtained from the relevant card company.

We may amend this agreement at any time by posting the revised version of the agreement to the North Travel website. The amended agreement will take effect from the time of posting on the North Travel website.

You authorise our agents to charge all fees incurred to the credit card designated by you. If payment is not received from the card issuer or its agents for any reason, you agree to pay us all amounts due on demand. Once payment has been received, you agree not to seek to reverse or cancel such payment through your card issuer or its agents without our prior written consent.

Real Experience (NZ) Ltd reserves the right to charge amendment or cancellation fees depending on circumstances and airline conditions.

Before we proceed to issue your airline ticket or process any travel booking on your behalf, various checks are taking place to validate the integrity of credit card information and in certain circumstances the credit card holder will be required to submit verification documentation to substantiate identity. The intent of this process is to reduce any potential risk for fraud and disruption to passengers upon check-in. In circumstances where we cannot contact the cardholder and the ticket issuance period lapses thereby making the booking invalid, we will have no choice but to cancel the booked arrangements. Under these circumstances, we accept no responsibility for any re-booking costs.

We reserve the right at our absolute discretion to decline or accept bookings made from outside New Zealand. Any automatic booking confirmations for such bookings are conditional contingent on our view of any financial risks, potential ticket despatch delays, or other international regulations that may apply.

Real Experience (NZ) Ltd makes no representation that its airline price sales are identical to prices on individual airline sites that may exist from time to time. Real Experience (NZ) Ltd reserves the right for marketing and commercial reasons to modify prices within the regulations of the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Finally, please note, any confirmed booking is subject to your credit card approval for the transaction. In an eventuality where your credit card is not approved we will attempt to contact you but hold no responsibility for any subsequent non provision of services in the event we are unable to establish contact with you.

What You Must Do

By registering for the Service, you warrant to us that you are at least eighteen years old. You must have sufficient credit on your credit card account to meet all charges for travel services you book through this website.

You must keep secure any means of identification that we provide to you to access the Service. You must not resell the Service or any products or services accessed by means of the Service, or permit any other person, other than adult members of your household or others with your express permission and under your personal supervision, to use your user identification to access the Service. We take no responsibility for any transactions which may occur as a result of a disclosure by you of your password to third parties, or through any unauthorised access to your personal information. You are responsible for all use of the Service, and all transactions entered by means of the Service, using this user identification. You must not use the Service for any activities which breach any laws, infringe any party's rights, or breach any standards, content requirements or codes promulgated by any relevant authority.

You must not use the Service in any way which interferes with other users or defames, harasses or menaces anyone. You indemnify us from and against all actions, claims, suits, demands, liabilities, costs or expenses arising out of or in any way connected to the use of the Service by you or any other person using your membership identification or password. You acknowledge that copyright subsists in all software, including HTML code, provided in association with the Service. You must not grant a third party the right to access and use the Service. You must not disassemble, decompile, or reverse engineer the whole or any part of the software accessed by means of the Service except to the extent that any applicable law prevents Real Experience (NZ) Ltd from prohibiting you from doing so. You must not modify, copy, transmit, display, perform, publish, license or create derivative works from any information or software accessed by means of the Service. Where copying or transmission is expressly permitted, you must not change or delete any author attribution or copyright notice. You must not use the software associated with the Service except in accordance with the Licence.

You acknowledge that we may receive a commission or an affiliate fee from transactions entered into using the Service.
You must not novate or assign any of your rights under this agreement to a third party.

You agree that as a member you will be automatically added to our email newsletter for product and promotional updates. If you do not wish to continue to receive these newsletters, you will be given the option to unsubscribe from the newsletter.

About Our Liability

All warranties and other terms which are not expressly included in these terms and conditions are excluded to the maximum extent permitted by law. Where we are liable to you under these terms and conditions, to the maximum extent permitted by law our liability will be limited, at our option, to resupply of the Service or the cost of resupplying the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law liability of all liability of Real Experience (NZ) Ltd in relation to the service of Real Experience (NZ) Ltd’s hotel and resort products.

We do not endorse or recommend any particular travel service provider, nor do we vouch for the accuracy or completeness of the information provided by third parties in relation to their products and services. Information provided through the Service is provided in good faith and is subject to amendment at any time without notice. You should make your own evaluation of the accuracy or completeness of any information, opinion, advice or other content available through the Service.

You are solely responsible for the suitability of any travel services which you purchase by means of the Service. We are not liable for any inconvenience caused or expense incurred as a result of any unsuitability of travel services for use in association with other travel services, except to the extent that liability in relation to those matters may be imposed on us by legislation that cannot be excluded. Real Experience (NZ) Ltds role in relation to your travel arrangements is limited to facilitating your booking and arranging travel documentation, payments and refunds as applicable.

Real Experience (NZ) Ltd accepts responsibility for the performance of this role and for the negligence of its employees. However, to the maximum extent permitted by law, Real Experience (NZ) Ltd disclaims all liability for any technical errors, corruption of data, unauthorised access to your personal data, inaccuracies in information supplied by third parties, or failure by Real Experience (NZ) Ltd to complete bookings where that failure is due to circumstances beyond its control.

Real Experience (NZ) Ltd accepts no responsibility or liability for any failure or delays on the part of any third party in providing travel services to you where your booking has been properly processed by it; nor is Real Experience (NZ) Ltd responsible for any acts or omissions of airlines or other third parties in the course of delivery of such travel services, except to the extent that responsibility for those matters may be imposed on Real Experience (NZ) Ltd by legislation that cannot be excluded. Where Real Experience (NZ) Ltd is liable to you under these terms and conditions its liability will be limited to providing the relevant booking services again or to refunding money paid in relation to services not provided because of Real Experience (NZ) Ltd default. Real Experience (NZ) Ltd shall only be liable to provide a refund to you to the extent that that it actually receives a refund from the relevant airline or other third party. Where refunds are due to you from third-party suppliers of travel products or services, Real Experience (NZ) Ltd will provide reasonable assistance to you in claiming such funds from those suppliers. In that situation, Real Experience (NZ) Ltd is authorised (but not obliged) to seek such refunds from the third-party supplier of travel products or services directly and on its own behalf. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Real Experience (NZ) Ltd excludes all liability for direct, indirect, consequential or incidental damages, lost profits or savings or damages for disappointment.

Flights

Qatar Airlines, Jetstar, Easyjet, Ryanair, WOW, Southwest, Spirit Airlines, Wizz Air, Norwegian Airlines, Scoot Airlines, Air Asia, Bonza

Please note, in the case of any booking for Qatar Airlines, Jetstar, Easyjet, WOW, Southwest, Spirit Airlines, Wizz Air, Norwegian Airlines, Scoot Airlines, Air Asia and Tiger Airways Real Experience (NZ) Ltd is not acting as an agent. Any issues related to booking these carriers need to be taken up directly with the carrier, even if the booking has been made through Real Experience (NZ) Ltd.

Fees and Charges

Servicing Fee

The North Travel Professional Service Fees, (if selected), are non-refundable. Payment of these fees is required at the time of the first quote has been created.

The North Travel Professional Service Fees apply on a per-person basis. Children Under 12 are exempt of fees except where they are travelling as an unaccompanied minor.

Service fees are charged over and above any supplier fees, charges and taxes. All fees are in NZD (New Zealand Dollar)

Professional Booking Fees:

  • Domestic Flights: $75.00

  • Unacomppanied Minor Flights: $75.00

  • Trans-Tasman & Pacific Flights: $150.00

  • Longhaul International Flights $199.00

  • Hotel only: $60.00

  • Cruise only: Free

  • Packages: $75.00

  • Travel Insurance only: Free

  • Trip/Flight cancellation: $350.00

  • Trip/Flight/Cruise change or rebooking: $125.00

  • After hours surcharge: $45 per hour (charged in 30-minute increments)

Credit Card Transaction Fees

  • Visa and Mastercard: 1.3% of the total booking

  • American Express: 2.5% of the total booking

  • Q Mastercard, Farmers Mastercard and Flight Centre Mastercard: 2.5%

  • When paying by credit card in a foreign currency only VISA and MasterCard Credit Cards are accepted forms of payment only. A foreign currency a 3.95% merchant fee applies.

Fees apply to debit cards. No fees for bank transfers or payment by cash.

Payment and Service Fee:

Any Payment and Service Fee is charged by Real Experience (NZ) Ltd in its own capacity (as a merchant), and not as an agent for any other party. Payment and Service Fees cover a range of costs, services, fees and charges in relation to your booking, including (among other things for example fraud prevention) the reasonable costs of accepting card payments.

For some international one-way mixed flights, the Real Experience (NZ) Ltd flights results page indicates that some return flight pricing has been converted to NZD at the exchange rate on the day of booking. Variations to your final price may occur due to currency fluctuations. Please note, where any pricing has been converted from a foreign currency to NZD your credit card company may charge a conversion fee.

Long term Finance

12 months no payments and no interest* *No payments and no interest for 12 months (“Payment Holiday”) is available on Flexi Payment Plans with Q Mastercard or Q Card for purchases with a Real Experience (NZ) Ltd consultant until 31 December 2023. A minimum spend of $1000 applies. An annual Account Fee of $55 applies. New Cardholder fees - $55 Establishment. Existing Cardholder fee - $35 Advance. The standard Interest Rate, currently 27.99% p.a or 25.95% p.a. (depending on your card) applies to any outstanding balance at end of the Payment Holiday. Lending criteria, fees, terms and conditions apply. Rate and fees are correct as of the date of publication, subject to change.

A 2.5% merchant service fee applies to all transactions on long-term finance.

Passports and Visas

Please ensure you have a valid Passport and a Visa (as applicable) to the countries you are travelling to.
All departing passengers require a valid passport for international travel. This means the passport must be valid for a set minimum period beyond your travel dates and is often variable depending on the country you visit.

A reminder if you are travelling overseas it is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid Passport and Visa where required. To assist you, both in determining whether you require a visa and processing your application online, please go to: http://www.passports.govt.nz/

Please ensure you check that you have a valid passport well in advance of travel as either the airline staff or immigration authorities will not allow you to pass through customs and board your flight without this documentation.

Visas

A visa provides you with the authority as a non-citizen to travel to another country. Visas are obtained from the issuing authority in New Zealand, usually an embassy. Visa requirements vary by both country you are travelling to and the current citizenship you hold so please ensure you check well in advance of your travel dates to allow sufficient processing time as required by the embassy.

Either airline staff or immigration authorities may not allow you to pass through customs and board your flight without the appropriate Visa.

Finally, some countries will not allow you to enter without proof of a return or onward electronic or paper ticket. Airline check-in staff at your point of origin may deny boarding you. If you proceed to book a one-way ticket, please ensure you have checked with the Consulate of the country you are travelling to in order to ensure that you comply with their laws and regulations.

All matters relating to complying with the laws and regulations of all immigration authorities are solely your responsibility.

The new South African Immigration Act effective 01 June 2015 will require all customers under 18 years old travelling to and from South Africa to be in possession of an unabridged birth certificate. Parent/s travelling with children under 18 years old will be asked to produce the required documentation at check-in for each flight. Read more.

Refunds

Your request for a refund of an airfare booked on the Real Experience (NZ) Ltd website is governed by the terms and conditions of the airfare you purchased and is as determined by the airline’s fare rules. Many fares are non-refundable. Airline charges or cancellation fees may apply to your airfare. Where a refund is applicable, the turnaround time from the date of your request for a refund to the date you are provided with your refund may take up to 12 weeks. This is beyond the control of Real Experience (NZ) Ltd.

Currency

All pricing is reflected in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) unless otherwise specifically denoted on the screen.

While prices are reflected in NZD we do provide the option to book and pay for your travel with the following currencies: Australian Dollar (AUD), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Chinese Yuan (CNY), Euros (EUR), Hong Kong Dollar (HKD), Japanese Yen (JPY), Korean Won (KRW), Pound Sterling (GBP), Singapore Dollar (SGD), South African Rand (ZAR), Swiss Franc (CHF), United States Dollar (USD).

When using a foreign currency option to purchase your travel in, please note that only VISA and MasterCard Credit Cards are accepted forms of payment only. When purchasing in a foreign currency a 3.9% merchant fee applies.

Ending This Agreement

This agreement is governed by the laws in force in New Zealand. You irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the High Court of New Zealand for determining any dispute concerning this agreement.
